Henna made her dock jumping debut in January 2005 at the DockDogs competition held during the Nothwest Sportman’s Show in Puyallup, Washington. Kristi’s father, who had watched DockDogs on ESPN was convinced that Henna was a ‘natural’ and convinced us to sign her up. She ended her first competition with jumps ranging from 12’-16’ and has steadily improved enough to earn her an Elite title (5 jumps over 23’ in distance measuring from the edge of the dock to the base of the tail when it breaks the surface of the water). Henna still jumps pretty consistently in the 20’-24’ range with all the style of an arial acrobat.
The team traveled to Roger’s Minnesota for the DockDogs 2007 National Championship. Henna placed 2nd place in the Extreme Vertical (high jump) Cadet Division. Henna was retired from Extreme Vertical winter 2008 due to a evidence of early arthritis in her spine. With daily swimming and exercise to keep up her core body strength she is still lives to jump off the dock and is able to compete in Big Air (distance jump) and Speed Retreive (doggy drag racing in the pool).
Kristi and Henna have traveled the West Coast and British Columbia for competitions and as a Big Air, Extreme Vertical , and Training Demo team over the years. When Henna isn’t jumping off a dock, she loves paddling around in the swimming pool. She is our resident pool seal; swimming virtually non-stop for hours on end. Henna loves to dive under the water and swim to the bottom of the pool to retrieve her sinking torpedo toy!
